Please join us for a reception and guided tour of selected works from the DAM's Herbert Bayer Collection and archive. Jill Desmond, Curatorial Assistant, DAM Department of Modern & Contemporary Art, will discuss several paintings and drawings from Bayer's anthologies series, currently on view, within the contexts of modernist design in America and the artist's prolific career both in and outside of Colorado. Throughout his career he moved between highly structured, Bauhaus-inspired styles and freely expressive styles founded in nature and the cosmos. Although Bayer is well known for his achievements in design, he considered painting "the continuous link connecting the various facets" of his work.

Desmond will lead a guided tour of Bayer's paintings on view from 7:00-7:30 PM, followed by a question and answer session.

A complimentary reception will be held in Hamilton Building, Lower Level, 6:00-8:00 PM for CultureHaus members only. Last call at 7:45 PM.
